Sundays (and Saturdays) mean "long run" for me in my 40 miles for 40 years journey. A long run is a relative term for runners. Today, it meant a six mile run through Delmar, while when I get into the Summer months, a long run will mean a run of 20+ miles. I will slowly build up my mileage as I work my way through the Spring and Summer as I establish a good foundation. A wise man once said, "You gotta have a good foundation!"
I want to take a minute to bring attention to a great local foundation, called Keep On Movement. This organization was recently started by John Walston to encourage physical activity among all members of the community, and I have to say, I'm a huge fan. John faced his own personal challenges and has become a great advocate for overall wellness and fitness. If you have a few minutes, I encourage you to visit www.keeponmovement.org to learn more. In a future post, I will go into detail how and why I became a runner, but for now, I'll just say how much I admire John and his foundation. Thank you to John and the Walston family for their generous donation to my fundraising goal!
Today's run - 6 miles, 58:07 (9:40 pace)
